the reason i started watching this anime was because someone on tiktok told me not to-naturally i had to see what was up. oh my god. i just finished it about thirty seconds ago and theres so fucking much i want to say. ive never seen madoka magica (at the time of writing), but i know how critically acclaimed it is and that yuki yuna is a hero is one of those animes people brush off as a mm copycat but i honestly think it was executed very well. the plot was solid and i am obsessed with the characters and arcs. its another one of those that you think about for a long time.
i think the thing i have the most to say about it is the second to last episode; the moral dilemma it presents is striking. would you destroy the entire world, would you kill your friends so they dont have to be in pain anymore? would you sacrifice everything, so that you know in your last moments you had a good life? or would you let it all happen, because robbing other people of their lives for your own reprieve is selfish. even if you risk losing everything you love?
tougou and yuna have something gay as fuck going on
i think that the last episode and how the tree effectively "retired" them and brought back their bodies was a tad bit convoluted, but im glad it happened (unlike some people who thought the consequences shouldve been permanent like they established) however the reason why is still a tad bit unclear. maybe they touch back on it more in one of the spin offs?
i thought that the reveal that tougou used to be a hero with an entirely different group was so interesting, it really shocked me. very well done. i hope that one of the prequels showcases this group with the hospital girl fuckkkk i forget her name. but yeah i think that would be super cool to see young tougou
all in all that was really entertaining, would watch again someday..!
